Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Family & Systemic Psychotherapist to join our new Hillside Secure Children's Home Inreach MDT as part of Swansea Bay CAMHS. The Hillside MDT will be professionally led by a Consultant Psychologist and include AHP & Medicine provision alongside this Family Therapy position. The expectation is that each child will have a formulation and treatment plan, and the team will work with Hillside staff to ensure plans are applied in practice in a trauma-informed way. There will therefore be opportunity for direct and indirect working to ensure that staff are well supported and enabled to meet the needs of the children and families linked to Hillside. The post holder will also have opportunity to deliver direct psychological interventions as per Matrics Plant.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the MDT providing interventions and consultations into the Hillside Secure Children's Home, and will be managed and supported by the Consultant Psychology lead for the team. Appropriate Clinical Supervision arrangements will be agreed with the successful candidate. They will be expected to provide clinical leadership in relation to Systemic Psychotherapy practice, and to work alongside children, families, Hillside Staff and the MDT to feed into care and treatment plans. They will be expected to deliver evidence based psychological interventions as part of the overall care and treatment plan. This post will provide the opportunity for direct and indirect clinical work, offering interventions to children, young people, their families and networks. They will be expected to partner with Hillside staff and the MDT to ensure that the care plans are applied in practice and that staff are robustly supported and enabled to meet the children and young people's needs to the best of their ability and manage the emotional context in which they work. The postholder will have opportunities to contribute to the ongoing development of systemic practice in hillside, helping to ascertain the nature and quality of the provision to help inform continued service improvement.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Working for our organisation

Family therapists form a valued part of the Psychology and Psychological Therapy (P&PT) network. The post holder will have the opportunity to work with fellow Family Therapists and other colleagues in the network and CAMHS team. There is a supportive and expanding CAMHS team which consists of psychologists, art therapists, CBT therapists, a play therapist, assistant psychologists, mental health nurses and Psychiatrists. The post holder will join this cohesive network of professionals and systemic thinkers affording opportunities for shared learning, CPD, reflective practice and support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As this is a newly established service provision, the exact details of this role will evolve in collaboration with the post holder, the Lead Practitioner Psychologist for Hillside, and the needs of the service, alongside developments across the MDT.
