Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 5 who is ready to take on the next step in their career journey, or a Band 6 looking to widen their experience and knowledge within the Chemotherapy Day Unit.
We are looking for someone who is dynamic and motivated to embrace this role. The post holder will support the Unit Manager exercise accountability for the management of the unit, to include leading and developing the core nursing establishment in the delivery of compassionate, high quality, effective, patient-centred nursing care; and providing fair, honest and measured people management.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision and guidance ( in line with NMC standards), expert clinical advice and undertake management and monitoring activities in line with legal and professional requirements, statutory rules and Health Board policies relating to evidence based practice. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Unit Manager with the efficient management of the unit budget, effectively deploying the nursing team and utilising the allocated resources.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Part 1) - Active NMC Registration
- Bachelor degree in relevant health related subject (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
- Knowledge of quality and service improvement methodologies e.g. Bronze IQT
- Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Recognised management qualification
- Understanding of wider nursing and health care related agenda
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant clinical experience
- Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
- Experience of shift leadership
- Experience of working with preregistration nursing / midwifery students
- Experience of formal /informal teaching and of mentoring preregistration nursing or midwifery students.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant experience within specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant specialty
- Experience of coordinating a team
- Experience of facilitating learning in and from practice
