Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic Band 6 Sister to join Swansea Bay University Health Boards District Nursing Out of Hours service.
The post holder will be a motivated, reflexive practitioner and will be a key member of the District Nursing Team, working closely with the team in the provision of high quality, holistic care.
Applicants must hold the Diploma or BSc in Community Health studies or currently working towards, be a nurse prescriber and have a commitment to continuous professional development. If working towards, position subject to successful completion of required qualification.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must have a flexible approach to the needs of the service and be motivated and enthusiastic in order to embrace the changes required to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
They will have operational responsibility and clinical accountability for the management of a defined caseload, provide clinical direction, leadership and management and provide cross-cover when required.
Night shift 21:45pm-08:15am x 3 nights a week based out of Ty Olwen Morriston.
The successful applicant will possess well developed leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate individuals and the team. You will need to be an excellent communicator with sound clinical skills and the drive and determination to contribute to the delivery of high quality nursing care and outcomes.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse at degree level.
- Current NMC registration.
- Post registration experience at Band 5.
- V150 Prescriber
- BSc in Community Health Studies or working towards this via a modular approach
- Working awareness of safeguarding and POVA guidance
- Ability to transfer knowledge across practical situations
- Knowledge and application of Microsoft word and Outlook
Desirable criteria
- Community Nursing Specialist Practitioner award
Essential Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of community nursing. Managing patients/clients with complex needs
- Knowledge and experience of CHC Assessment and care coordination. Experience of coping with distressing or emotional situations
- Experience of effective multidisciplinary/multi-agency working.
- Experience of managing own time and prioritising activities.
- Experience of self-development demonstrated by CPD portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within district nursing.
