THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 6 MONTHS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE SECONDMENT POSITION, YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM YOUR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POST.  

 

Offer specialised expertise within the Prosthetic Service, leading by example, and demonstrating good practice, openness and
responsiveness to emerging evidence.
• Independently prescribe, manage and deliver a defined Prosthetic Service to both adult and paediatrics caseloads, including those
with complex needs using evidence based /client centred principles, to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcomes of
prosthetic intervention whilst maintaining associated records.
• Organise this efficiently and effectively regarding clinical priorities and use of time.
• Provide highly developed expertise within the MDT setting.
• Regularly supervise Prosthetic Students on practice placements.
• Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the Prosthetic Service within the team and holding responsibility for
defined projects. E.g. audit Principal Responsibilities.
• Undertake prosthetic assessment, prescription and treatment of patients with a variety of routine and complex needs.

Main duties of the job

Autonomously manage a highly specialised prosthetic caseload, organising this effectively and efficiently around other professional
duties e.g. teaching, audit, development.
• Autonomously plan and schedule out-patient clinics and hospital ward visits when necessary to ensure optimal use of clinical time.
• Organise individual prosthetic product reviews with suppliers in order to resolve problems or issues that may occasionally occur.
• Develop and implement the delivery of professional competencies, systems and training packages, to ensure the effective running of
the team.

Fixed Term for 6 months to cover maternity leave.

 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential criteria
  • BSc Honours Degree. Prosthetics/Orthotics or equivalent qualification.
  • Post-graduate level qualification or experience in relevant clinical or managerial area to Masters degree level (or working towards).
  • Experience in measuring, fitting, assessing and evaluating the function of a broad range of bespoke and stock prostheses.
  • Understanding of the Prosthetic Clinical process and ability to apply current best practice to designated client group.
  • HCPC Registered
Desirable criteria
  • Extensive post registration clinical experience providing a broad range of experience in prosthetic service provision.
  • Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical area.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
