Job overview

Do you share our Health Board values; Caring for each other; Working together; Always improving? If so, we would love for you to come and work for Swansea Bay University HB.

The Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatology and Neonatal Neurodevelopment is a 12‑month post (with possible extension) at Singleton Hospital, Swansea Bay UHB. Suitable for neonatal GRID trainees, post‑CCT fellows, or doctors seeking OOP experience in neonatology, paediatric neurology, neurodisability or community child health. We aim for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible, ideally May–July 2026. The role combines advanced neonatal care with a strong neurodevelopmental focus, including hands‑on assessment, MDT working and early intervention. The fellow will join daytime neurodevelopment activity and the tier‑2 rota, with training opportunities in POCUS, echo, simulation, education, governance and research within a supportive tertiary unit.

Main duties of the job

The post‑holder will deliver high‑quality neonatal care across NICU, HDU, special care, transitional care and the delivery suite. Responsibilities include assessing and managing preterm and unwell newborns, attending high‑risk deliveries, contributing to ward rounds, supporting family‑integrated care and maintaining accurate Badgernet documentation. A key element is neurodevelopment, including HNNE, GMA, neuroprotective care planning, MDT involvement, neuroradiology sessions, outpatient clinics, Bayley IV and GMA assessments, and close working with outreach and community paediatrics. The role offers opportunities to lead QI projects, support NNAP/VON data, and contribute to audit, governance and risk management, along with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and simulation. Out‑of‑hours duties form part of the tier‑2 rota. Pay scales may change following implementation of the Wales framework agreement
