THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 24 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE SECONDMENT POSITION, YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM YOUR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POST

Are you a highly motivated and dynamic pharmacist looking to advance your career? Swansea Bay University Health Board offers an exciting opportunity to embark on a two-year fixed-term rotational training programme, designed to develop your skills and confidence as a post-registration pharmacist.

Our rotational training programme allows pharmacists to rotate across up to two base sites, offering exposure to a broad range of specialties. While specific rotations cannot be guaranteed, the opportunities on offer include:

·       Morriston Hospital: Acute Medicine, Paediatrics and Intensive Care Unit.

·       Singleton Hospital: Oncology, Haematology, Women’s Health, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

·       Cefn Coed Hospital: Specialist Mental Health Services.

Learning pathway

We are committed to supporting your professional development. You will undertake a recognised post-registration qualification or credential, with access to a structured programme of learning designed to equip you with the skills needed to deliver advanced, specialist care.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 pharmacist, you will undertake a variety of responsibilities depending on your rotation and allocated sites. These may include providing clinical pharmacy services on wards, where you will ensure the safe and effective use of medicines, optimise patient care through medication reviews, and offer expert advice to the multidisciplinary team. You will also contribute to the operation of the dispensary, including screening prescriptions, checking dispensed medications, and ensuring the timely supply of medicines to patients.

This varied role offers a robust foundation for your career, with exposure to a wide array of specialties and practice environments, fostering professional growth and development.

The pharmacy team provides a 7-day service and an out-of-hours emergency service. The role will involve developing competence across these services and participating in rotas in accordance with each base site.

If applicable and appropriate, applicants are asked to document their preferred training site(s) within their supporting statement.

We welcome applications from foundation trainee pharmacists registering with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) in August 2026 and from pharmacists who have already gained registration, in any sector of practice.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
