Job overview
To provide an efficient and professional security and car parking service for the health board as part of the security and car parking team .
To carry out a range of preventative and reactive routine scheduled and adoc security and car parking tasks on a daily basis. To protect staff , visitors and patients and property on site.
To undertake an active operational role as part of the responsive security service under the guidance of the health board policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
The security department at Morriston Hospital are looking for a responsible and professional individual to join the security and car parking team.
The post holder will be working 37.5 hours per week covering shifts including weekends , days , night and bank holidays.
The successful candidate must have good communication skills and must hold a valid SIA license.
Other duties include being able to provide and efficient and professional service at all times.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will have a specific security and car parking role to be undertaken as part of the dual responsibility .
Security staff respond to all incidents on request by shift manager or nursing staff where an individual(s) is reported to behaving aggressive , violent or antisocial , Security will defuse any given situation accordingly using tact , persuasion and where necessary , controlled restraint techniques. Communication with victims of such incidents and witness to record the pertinent fact of the incident.
Daily routine lock ups , checking on areas , department and wards . Daily walk around site including car parking duties.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- SIA Front Line Licence (Level 2)
- Undertake training achieving qualifications required for Security Industry Authority licensing within 1st year of employment including attending specialist courses e.g. Control & Restraint/physical intervention training
- Knowledge and understanding of patient confidentiality and the ability to deal with sensitive issues
- Understand and apply techniques of conflict management Understanding of basic Law & Legislation in relation to Security
Desirable criteria
- IOSH working safely or equivalent
- Health and Safety Level 1 CSCS First Aid certificate
- Conflict Resolution training SIA (PSS) CCTV Licence
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Infection Control awareness Knowledge of car parking systems (payment machines, barriers etc.)
Essential Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience within a security environment
- Previous experience in a customer facing environment
Desirable criteria
- Previous supervisory experience
- Previous NHS security experience
- Previous armed forces or police employment
- Operation of CCTV systems

- Ability to use Microsoft office and electronic programmes to collate/produce clear and concise professional reports and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work with minimum prioritise a demanding workload
- Investigatory skills able to carry out dynamic risk assessments (i.e. when attending incidents)
- Ability to communicate easily and confidently with all levels of personnel, colleagues, patients, general public and visitors effectively
- Flexible approach to work to meet the business needs

- Full clean driving license to drive health board vehicles
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
