Job overview

Are you looking for a permanent Band 5 Speech and Language Therapy position working with adults?

Do you want to gain knowledge, skills and experience working in a wide range of clinical specialties with excellent support and development opportunities?

If so, we welcome you to apply for this exciting opportunity to join the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team in SBUHB on a full time, permanent contract.

The post is rotational, giving the successful candidate a unique opportunity to develop their skills and clinical expertise working in MDTs across multiple specialties in the acute, rehabilitation, outpatient and community settings.

The rotations include stroke, neuro-medical, ENT and head and neck cancer, and adult learning disability services across the Swansea Bay footprint.

You will be working with an experienced SLT team who are friendly, encouraging and forward thinking.  We routinely provide regular appraisal and clinical supervision opportunities, active support for research, audit and evidence-based practice and dedicated time and funding for appropriate CPD.  The team has excellent administrative support and well-established SLT led videofluoroscopy, FEES and SVR clinics.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to be punctual, flexible, enthusiastic, dynamic and proactive in driving their development and learning as they rotate between 4 specialist teams; stroke, neuro-medical, Head and Neck Cancer/ENT and adult learning disabilities.

In each of these rotations, they will be responsible for the assessment and management of communication and swallowing difficulties with support and direction from supervisors.

They will need to be able to travel between sites in a timely manner and be involved in the development and delivery of training and education to family, patients and staff.

They will work with care and compassion, demonstrating the Health Board’s values throughout their work within the SLT team and also wider MDTs and professional forums.
