Job overview

Ward 1 is an Elderly Rehabilitation  Ward, we also care for palliative patients. The main duties of the Nursing Assistant on the ward will involve caring for patients ensuring standards of  care are met. This includes assisting patients with all activities of daily living , washing and dressing, promoting independence as part of their rehabilitation goals. Assisting with meals ensuring adequate oral intake and general ward duties.

Main duties of the job

The Nursing Assistant role will assist the qualified nurse  to give a high standard of care of the patients on the ward. To be involved with the rehabilitation of the patient and to assist with mobilising patients. 

Ensuring high standards of care are delivered and met on each shift.

Working closely with the MDT and clear and concise documentation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant role will assist the qualified nurse  to give a high standard of care of the patients on the ward. To be involved with the rehabilitation of the patient and to assist with mobilising patients. 

Ensuring high standards of care are delivered and met on each shift.

Working closely with the MDT and clear and concise documentation.

Undertakes a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital, community, and other settings.

Records patient observations and changes to patient clinical conditions

Carries out limited clinical care duties.

Qualifications / Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation
  • Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience
  • Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Previous care experience in a health or social care setting
