Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and determined individual to join our progressive team, with a national reputation for innovation and development. You will be part of the Production team using your leadership and technical skills within our licenced Pharmacy Production Unit (PPU).
You will be part of this exciting future, where the PPU develops products and processes to support other healthcare professional at ward level across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
The post will be based at Wansbeck General Hospital but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.
Weekend cover will be based at NSECH to support the 7 day clinical service.
Production Pharmacy Manufacturing Technician (Band 5) will aid in the maintenance of the Pharmacy Quality System and meeting requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice. There will be a requirement to carry out Initial Accuracy Checking of bespoke Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT) and Ready-to-administer (RtA) antibiotics and Assembled batch products (Over-labelling) and all associated documents.
Your role will include oversight and line management of Production Team Leaders to assist and develop the role to ensure team is performing effectively.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Production Pharmacy Manufacturing Technician (Band 5):
Initial Accuracy Checking of bespoke Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), Ready-to-administer (RtA) batched antibiotics, and Assembled batch products (Over-labelling)
Lead on training and development of staff within the PPU.
Line Management of Production Team Leaders and Production Assistants.
Report monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) figures to ensure PPU is operating effectively.
Plan and allocate staffing resource to meet service demands.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 and recognised underpinning knowledge qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent pharmaceutical science qualification.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council, or Science Manufacturing Technician with Science Council (if not registered upon applying for post registration would be required prior to start).
- IT skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and pharmacy ordering and dispensing systems.
- Evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Relevant experience working in a Pharmacy Production Unit, and knowledge of preparation of aseptic products, procurement, and distribution.
Desirable criteria
- Successfully completed the 'Aseptic Services for Managers' course run by the University of Leeds (if not already held there will be an expectation to achieve this when a training opportunity becomes available
