Job overview

We require friendly, flexible, conscientious ‘Bank’ Catering Assistants, to work as and when required to provide regular holiday and absence cover within our small catering team working at Berwick Infirmary.

Shifts worked are various hours between 07:00am and 18:00pm, Monday to Sunday.

Main duties of the job

Main duties will include the preparation and hospitality service of meals to staff, visitors and patients. Other duties include general kitchen cleaning, operating the industrial dishwasher, serving in the staff and visitor restaurant and cash handling.

Full training will be provided for the successful candidate and uniform will also be provided.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for the preparation of foodstuffs, general cleaning of equipment and areas
within the Catering Department and preparation and service of food to patients on the
ward or to patients, visitors and staff in the dining room. The post holder will be required to
operate in the central dish wash area

  • Basic Numerate & Literate Skills
  • Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate or must be achieved within 6 months of start date
