Job overview

The postholder will be responsible for providing a high-quality reception and administration service at SNH to support inpatient services based at Bamburgh Clinic and Alnwood. 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The postholder will ensure that patients, staff and visitors are welcomed into the units by competent operation of access which contributes to a safe and secure environment in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. The postholder will be required to liaise with all staff disciplines, patients and visitors within the service including external organisations in the course of the reception function.

Person specification

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria
  • OCR Level 3 Word-processing/typing qualification or OCR Level 3 in Business Administration. Educated to GCSE Standard/O- Level – including English and maths. Or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including e-mail communication
  • Ability to maintain and update Patient Information Systems e.g. RiO
  • Good working knowledge of office procedures
  • Previous secretarial/clerical/reception experience
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality at all times
  • Able to prioritise and plan own workload

Skills and Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Good organisational and planning skills
