Job overview
We are looking for qualified, multi skilled Complementary Therapists to become part of our dedicated team of professionals. You must have at least two years post registration and experience in each qualification, which must include Aromatherapy, Massage and Reflexology.
Additional qualifications and skills such as Indian Head Massage, Reiki Level 2, Oncology and adaption training, Mindfulness, M technique will be regarded favourably.

Our aim is to provide and further develop comprehensive holistic patient cantered individually tailored complementary therapy and support throughout the patient journey, from initial diagnosis, through treatment and discharge, including end of life care.

- All posts are subject to NHS pre-employment checks including occupational health clearance and DBS (where appropriate).
- All pay progression is conditional upon a positive outcome at annual appraisal.
- All successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay. You will be required to sign a DBS payment form which will be issued to you as part of your recruitment process.
- All new employees will be required to attend the Trust induction programme and complete appropriate mandatory training requirements.
- Where professional registration is required for a post it is the responsibility of the employee to maintain their registration.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The position involves primarily working with inpatients on wards within the Northern Centre for Cancer Care and Freeman Hospital. Outpatients on the day units and Therapy suite (as resources allow). On occasion Cardiothoracic and Intensive Critical Care wards and outpatients.
Ideally, you should have experience of working with Cancer or palliative care patients in a clinical setting and demonstrate evidence of continued Professional development. You will have relevant recognised qualifications in Aromatherapy, Massage and reflexology at degree or equivalent diploma level. Be a fully registered and accredited member of a relevant professional governing body FHT, CNHC, IFA, AOC or equivalent.
Successful applicants are able to work under emotionally distressing circumstances and be able to provide and receive complex, sensitive information. Provide a combination of adapted techniques reflecting patient’s current medical and surgical interventions to ensure appropriate safe support.

Working arrangements will follow Staff Bank guidelines; however, shifts are available throughout the week and dependent on service demand.

- Evidence of recent and relevant experience of working within the NHS or other equivalent healthcare setting.
- Evidence of on-going continuous professional development.
- Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective report writing skills.
- Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with people affected by cancer.
- Specialist training in therapy/adaption techniques for cancer patients.
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good IT skills
- Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Effective organisation and time management skills.
