Job overview
The role of the Statistician for Information Services is to provide high quality analysis of the data that is collected for NHS primary care services in England. You will lead in the delivery of information and insight about prescription activity and costs to those with the responsibility for setting NHS policy and commissioning services.
The post holder will work with business and finance colleagues to ensure that the data we collect are robust and can be used appropriately to deliver insights and informed decision-making.

Main duties of the job
Role Overview

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In this role, you are accountable for:
1. Providing high quality analysis of the data that is collected for a specific NHS service, such as Dental, Prescribing or Optometry.
Knowledge
2. Engaging in the development and application of mathematical or statistical theory and methods to collect, organise, interpret, and summarise numerical data to provide usable information to non-technical customers.
3. Producing, developing, and promoting a range of statistical/information services for the consumers of the information. This will include identifying insight that could be shared with a broader user base of Products and services.
4. Providing specialist advice and guidance on statistical and information matters including the development and analysis of health related and financial datasets and information to the broader team.
5. Taking responsibility for own professional development and engages in the organisation appraisal system positively to identify personal training and development opportunities.
Customer
6. Working with Senior Managers, NHS policy clients and strategic partners to gain access to resources and co-ordinate work to
deliver projects.
7. Being aware of, and responding to, developments affecting the NHS; especially those that influence your area of focus.
8. Driving the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources to prepare data for machine learning algorithms and other statistical analysis. You’ll identify opportunities for advanced analytics approaches to be shared with users.

9. Managing staff within project teams and taking responsibility for project budgets within own work area.
10. Providing professional specialist advice, guidance, and training throughout the organisation.
