Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the Communications and Marketing team to support the delivery of the NHSBSA’s business strategy - working across the Communications and Marketing team to help deliver a range of targeted communications. media, and public relations (PR) activity, ensuring our channels are a source of timely, accurate and relevant information for our audiences.

This will include working with Media and Campaigns Officers on content and format for internal and external newsletters, supporting Marketing and Events Officers at conferences and exhibitions, sourcing content across the business for our corporate internal communications channels, and a range of administrative and support work.

The content will be used across a variety of communications channels in support of both service and organisational objectives. 

The post holder will ideally have experience and training in media and PR, and will have excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills, enjoy creative, challenging work and be able to progress multiple tasks in a busy office environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In this role, you are accountable for

1.    Working with the Internal Communications and Engagement team to source content for our corporate internal communications channels, to support on internal campaigns and co-ordinate internal news articles. 
2.    Working with the relevant Media and Campaigns Officers as needed to schedule social media posts, gather content and format external stakeholder newsletters and provide support for behaviour change campaigns.
3.    Provide support for exhibitions and conference including organising attendance, managing suppliers and ensuring the relevant marketing collateral is in place. 
4.    Maintaining campaign and customer contact information for the Marketing and Events team on a customer relationship management database. 
5.    Helping to maintain a database of media enquiries and journalist contact information. 
6.    Updating relevant content for the Communications and Marketing Team on the intranet site. 
7.    Creating and editing videos and photographs of events to be used across all internal and external communications channels to promote the positive work of the NHSBSA and build our reputation as the delivery partner of choice for the NHS. 
8.    Producing a weekly media scanning report for the Leadership Team and Board members and other media monitoring reports as required. 
9.    Working with Content Designers as required to help update the website. 
10.    Working with our Creative Designers to develop content including graphics, video, audio, podcasts for internal and external projects, campaigns and initiatives

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum Grade C or above Maths and English.
  • Education to NVQ Level 3 or A Level equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification in communications or marketing for example CIPR/CIM.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all disciplines and at all levels, confidently and clearly presenting messages.

  • Good understanding of systems including Microsoft 365, Word, Excel and databases.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Some experience of working in a communications department.
  • Experience of working within a communications team to deliver communications campaigns.
  • Researching and implementing good practice, new techniques and new technology.
  • Experience of working with creative designers to create content and design materials to support communications campaigns.
  • Developing engaging, targeted content and messages suitable for use across a range of digital channels
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using analytics software e.g. Google Analytics and techniques to identify key online influencers and links between partner groups to better target digital communication.
  • Advising on brand usage and ensuring consistency of corporate branding.
