Job overview

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well-integrated team.

This post provides an unparalleled opportunity for a trainee with an interest in PIC medicine to gain knowledge in all aspects of paediatric intensive care. This includes: 6 months on Cardiac PICU at Freeman Hospital with experience of ECMO, mechanical support, heart failure and transplantation; and 6 months on PICU at Great North Children’s Hospital with experience of paediatric immunology/bone marrow transplant, renal transplant, trauma, respiratory and other general PICU medicine.  The post would be suitable for a paediatric trainee who has an interest in a career in paediatric intensive care or an anaesthetic trainee with an interest in paediatric anaesthesia.   The Consultants support trainees fully and the level of any additional responsibility given depends upon experience.  There are many research and service development opportunities.

Successful applicant will require GMC registration prior to taking up the post.

In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit.

Please read attached Job Description and Person Specification.
