Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for one full time and one part time Maternity Cover Team Secretary to join the CAMHS Administration Team based at Albion Road Clinic, North Shields.  Our multi-disciplinary team is here to help children and young people and their families within North Tyneside.

We are looking for a pro-active, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy admin team working with Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Psychologists, ADHD clinicians and other clinicians within the department.  Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to provide secretarial support to the CAMHS clinicians.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide a full range of secretarial support to the specialist teams.  You must be able to use your own initiative, work under pressure, keep to strict deadlines and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, typing and transcription of clinical and non-clinical documents, manage diaries, arrange meetings.  You will be working within a large admin team, however the ability to work individually is also a requirement.  We also require someone who has the ability to step-up when needed to cover admin management duties as required.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) offers mental health support to children and young people and their families within North Tyneside.  We work from a community site based at Albion Road Clinic in North Shields.  We are a multi-disciplinary team and deliver a service to young people up to the age of 18 years.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible to Admin Manager.

Provide comprehensive secretarial service to consultant(s) and their team.

Manage diaries, arrange/minute meetings, communication with GPs & patients.

Advanced typing & transcription of clinical & non-clinical documents (OCR 3 or equivalent qualification/experience).

Support effective utilisation of OP clinic capacity.

Support management of all patient journeys including target administration e.g. GP referrals, 18 week RTT, Typed communication to GPs.

Support Admin Manager with induction/training of new staff, sharing knowledge with colleagues.

Resource management – ordering of supplies & equipment.

Allocates work to Band 2 staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSA 3/OCR or equivalent or relevant typing/word processing experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL / advanced ECDL
  • GCSE English Language grade C or above or equivalent qualification
  • AMSPAR Diploma (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology & procedures
