Sound too good to be true? Well it isn’t, this is what you get when you work for Northumbria Healthcare and, this is…the Northumbria Way!

It’s open to everyone, and we aim to find solutions that work for both you and the organisation. All arrangements must be reasonable and balanced to maintain safe and effective patient care.
We are proud to be one of the country’s top performing NHS trusts – rated ‘outstanding’ overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated Dietitian to be part of our Trustwide Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS). This post will work into both Tier 3 & Tier 4 (bariatric surgery) workstreams as we continue to establish a whole system, collaborative approach to supporting patients living with obesity as part of a continued service development and expansion plan. We are an established service, and you will be supported by experienced colleagues within a forward-thinking and collaborative MDT. Specialist weight management is an exciting, fast-paced area in which to work, particularly with the development and implementation of the medical management pathways.
This role will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital, but you will be working Trust-wide throughout North Tyneside and Northumberland delivering group sessions and clinics, both in-person as well as virtual. Due to the large geographical area covered by the Trust, a full UK driving license is essential.
We are a supportive department and organisation and will provide the successful candidate with the training/support required. If you are looking for a new challenge and have a keen interest in supporting people living with obesity, then this is the post for you.

Main duties of the job

You will help our patients through education, motivational interviewing and behaviour change techniques to set short and long-term goals with their food choices.
You will work collaboratively with the Tier 3 and Tier 4 multidisciplinary teams, including dietitians, dietetic assistant practitioners, psychologists, psychology assistants, physical activity facilitators, physiotherapists, nurses, surgeons and physicians. We have a developing drug therapy pathway in the service and you may be required to support patients on drug therapies (GLP-1-agonist) alongside medical staff.
We require you to be compassionate and understand the negative impact of weight stigma can have on our patients.
We take students from the North East, North Yorkshire Partnership for A, B and C placements and we are working closely with the HEIs to develop role emerging placements. All staff support our student training programme and candidates are expected to have received practice education training.
