We work closely with Kids First Nurseries that are based within our trust grounds at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham hospitals to care for our Trust family's children, they offer care for children from 6 weeks old up to 4 years. Job overview
Applications are invited for this new exciting role of Plastic Surgery Fellow, created to provide an opportunity to develop skills in Plastic Surgery and deliver audit and research within Northumbria Healthcare NHS. Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is rated “outstanding” for the Care Quality Commission. This is a unique opportunity to develop skills in plastic surgery procedures and the management of complex wounds, within a small multidisciplinary team at Northumbria Healthcare.
If the successful appointee has over four years post qualification experience, they will be appointed on specialty doctor 2021 terms and conditions.

Main duties of the job
Supporting with the care of patients pre and post surgery with breast reconstruction, general plastics and micro surgical procedures.
Assisting the Surgeons in theatres.
Complex wound management, including debridement and use of skin flaps and grafts.
To deliver outpatient and inpatient care.
To assist in the development of the Plastic Surgery service at Northumbria Healthcare.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The primary aims of the post are:
- To provide support to the plastic surgeons in theatre lists and develop skillset
- To support patients both pre and post surgery, including ward rounds and OPD clinics
- To manage patients non-surgically
- To deliver follow up for patients on skin cancer pathways
- To develop the orthoplastic service

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCS
- Full GMC Registration.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Clinical training and experience in Plastics or General Surgery
- High standard of clinical skill and expertise in specialty
- Clinical Governance
Teaching
Essential criteria
- Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching of nonmedical health professionals
- Educational Qualification
Research, Audit and Clinical Governance
Essential criteria
- Experience of and commitment to medical audit.
Desirable criteria
- Publications in referred journals
