Job overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated nurse, to join our team of Patient Services Co-Ordinator’s to provide 24-hour bed and site management within this large and busy organisation. This is a band 6 post that progresses to a band 7 following successful completion of an internal training program of approximately 21 months role responsibilities. The role is instrumental in ensuring the safe and timely admission and discharge of patients while, at the same time providing a wide range of operational management experience.
The role will also include a one off period of rotation into the discharge specialist team. This is to gain an in depth knowledge of the discharge process and the management of complex discharges in accordance with national guidelines and trust policies and procedures. Provide advice and support to ward staff to facilitate safe and efficient discharge.

- Management of clinical capacity to accommodate elective and emergency admissions.
- Facilitate the timely, effective, appropriate and safe discharge of patients across the Trust.
- Act inside and outside of normal working hours in a site management capacity with the support of the Patient Services Co-ordinator.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- The post holder will carry out a spectrum of general and operational management duties aimed at managing overall bed capacity.
- Act as the site manager inside and outside normal working hours.
- Following the successful completion of an internal training program the post holder will progress to a band 7.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse
- Education to Degree level and previous experience at a senior grade
Desirable criteria
- Mentor Preparation Qualification
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of a range of acute clinical experiences.
- Management experience.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving professional knowledge, skills and competence to ensure evidence based practice in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Councils Code of Conduct.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate understanding of emergency and elective admissions to the Trust, in accordance with Government Targets and the impact this has on patient flow throughout the system.
- Demonstrate understanding of recent governmental reforms relating to all aspects of bed management and Government Targets.
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Highly developed communication, organisational and negotiating skills. Leadership skills
- Demonstrate the ability to time manage, prioritise and work to a deadline
- Nursing skills
- Working knowledge of syringe drivers, pumps and emergency equipment.
- Good standard of keyboard skills.
- Basic knowledge Microsoft Office
