Job overview
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides health and social care services in acute and primary care settings, community hospitals, and care centres, through the 11,000 employed staff. The Trust spans over two counties of North Tyneside and Northumberland, and has a main WAN MPLS between the main hospitals in those regions.
Northumbria Digital Services team provide, IT services to all of the Trusts directorates, departments and subsidiaries and this role is to support the team to ensure the campus LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi services are correctly designed, implemented, secured and supported to match the digital delivery needs and ambitions of the Trusts digital strategy.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for the management and performance of client network infrastructure LAN/WAN, WLAN and DC, providing pro-active support to ensure maximum availability of service in line with Trust service level agreements.
To be a point of escalation through the network operational team, from the digital services department and the Network technician, engineer and associate roles.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide support for the Trust’s Wide and Local Area Networks in conjunction with the Network Team Lead.
- Provide infrastructure support to ensure high availability, security and usability of the LAN/WAN that is transparent to users.
- To assist in the development of the data and voice network in line with the Trust policies.
- Maintenance of networked systems and, where appropriate, resolve or assist in troubleshooting any problems with those systems.
- Troubleshoot and triage all initial network related issues that occur trust wide.
- To assist with the installation of cabling throughout all of the client sites.
- To document data and voice network infrastructure as it is developed and maintained.
- To provide support to assist in the resolution of service desk incidents to agreed service levels.
- To ensure the effective operation and regular testing of telecommunications infrastructure services and systems.
- To work closely with those responsible for telecommunications operations, particularly the Contact Centre, Switchboard.
- To participate in the out of hours on-call rota.
- Demonstrate to core values and behaviours of the Trust.

- A level 5 qualification in a relevant computer related discipline or equivalent knowledge/experience
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of managing a Network infrastructure LAN, WAN, WLAN
- Knowledge and experience of CISCO network technologies
Desirable criteria
- Appropriate industry recognised qualifications e.g. CCNA R&S or equivalent.

- It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid UK driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role
