Main duties of the job

There are bank assignments all around the Trust, including our community settings in Haltwhistle, Berwick, Alnwick, Morpeth, Rothbury, Blyth as well as our main hospitals in Hexham, Ashington, North Tyneside and Cramlington. We have a range of shifts 7 days per week including day shifts, earlies, lates, twilight, nights and weekends.  With bank you can pick and choose which shifts suit you.

The role is to provide high standards of care to patients accessing our services.  You will need to:

Embrace our trust values, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have a flexible approach to your work.

Provide clinical expertise and practice autonomously in the absence of medical cover.

Provide skilled and knowledgeable care and advice to patients and their carers.

Complete assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct care to patients.

Work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team

Engage with external agencies to provide a high quality service for patients from disease, and their carers.

Contribute to the development of high quality services within Northumbria Healthcare.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bank Nurse practitioner.  Rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recognised nationally for providing some of the very best services.

As a Bank Nurse Practitioner you will already be a senior experienced clinician ideally with ensuring that patients across Northumberland and North Tyneside experience the highest quality of care in hospital, in the community and at home. Extensive surgical, orthopaedic , medial or emergency care knowledge, and a high level of clinical skill. You will be a motivated team player who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.

You will be part of a team of people who will be instrumental in developing and delivering our plans moving forward and will contribute positively to the development of the patient pathways for our patients

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse
  • Diploma/ Degree in nursing/ health studies
  • Post Graduate qualification
  • Recognised teaching/mentorship qualification
  • Nurse Practitioner Qualification
  • Specialist area qualifications
  • Independent/supplementary nurse prescriber
  • Relevant training related to specialist area
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Masters Level

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience as trainee nurse practitioner.
  • Worked within specialty area

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of extended skills – history taking and assessment.

  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.
