Main duties of the job
Applicants should have a technical qualification e.g. NVQ Level III in an associated field or equivalent technical/work experience and have previous experience working as a Therapy Assistant or in a care setting . You will need to have an appreciation of the principles of Physiotherapy and experience of working as a member of a team. Good organisational and time management skills and a commitment to personal development are required as well as effective written and oral communication and IT skills.
To work as part of the physiotherapy team delivering physiotherapy to patients within the speciality, this will mainly consist of assisting the physiotherapist with mobility assessments, providing equipment, conducting rehabilitation sessions, progressing exercise tolerance and working with patients to progress their independence and engage them in healthy lifestyle conversations.
To be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team within the speciality.
To be responsible for own life long learning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Under the supervision of a registered Physiotherapist the Technical Instructor will independently manage a designated caseload of patients, defined as noncomplex, within a specified clinical area, providing assessment and interventions on behalf of the physiotherapist within predetermined guidelines.
- All patients will have an initial assessment carried out by a state registered physiotherapist.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English
- Technical qualification e.g. NVQ Level III Diagnostic and Previous experience of working as a therapy assistant
- Current driving licence

- Associate Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Therapeutic Care or equivalent technical/work experience
- An appreciation of the principles of physiotherapy practices and procedures
