Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 24 at North Tyneside General Hospital. We require two Nursing Assistant's to join our team. Ward 24 is an innovative and forward thinking, 26 bedded Care of the Elderly Ward.
We are looking for a candidate who has a commitment to ensure safe and high-quality care is delivered to our patients, as well as being a role model and supporting other members of the MDT.
On Ward 24 there is a strong focus on multidisciplinary team working, to ensure safe and timely patient discharges or transfers to appropriate care settings.
You will be expected to work as part of a dynamic nursing team, delivering all aspects of care to patients and have excellent communication skills. Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable, but not essential. These posts will be rotational between day/night shift and cover seven days a week.

Main duties of the job
The main purpose of the role is to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the nurses and the ward manager.
- To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care
- To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team
- To maintain high clinical standards
- To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assist the qualified nurses in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
- To give basic nursing care, e.g.; assistance with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, mobility needs, washing under direct or indirect supervision. Monitor patients’ observations and vital signs including fluid balance
- To report accurately perceived changes in a patient’s manner, observation, eating habits etc.
- To promote health within the ward setting.
- Organises own day to day work tasks or activities under supervision of qualified staff
- Able to respond to the changing needs of patients and ward routines.

- Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation
- Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience
- Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
