Medical Secretary position working in the Memory Matters North Cumbria team based at Lillyhall Business Centre
Main duties of the job
Making up assessment clinics, taking typing from the Big Hand transcription system as well as work from the CMB in-box which entails formatting letters.
Setting up of doctors clinics.
Liaising with outside agencies such as adult social care, general practitioners, other healthcare professionals.
Minute taking for multidisciplinary meetings
Recording patient data on RIO patient information system
Recording of data on excel spreadsheet

The main duties are supporting the medical team as well as the clinical team which comprises of nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists. The role is varied, interesting and enjoyable.

Education & Qulaifications
Essential criteria
- RSA Level III/OCR3 in Text Processing/NVQ 3 in Business and Administration (including text preparation) plus knowledge acquired through further experience
- Educated to O-Level / GCSE standard
Knowledge & Experince
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant medical terminology
- Working knowledge of Patient Information Systems, e.g. RiO
Desirable criteria
- Working knowledge of CPA, Mental Health Act and Safeguarding documentation and procedures
Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria
- Audio-typing skills.
- Minute-taking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of NHS Procedures and Policies
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate ability to manage fast paced workload
