Job overview
The primary role of the Procurement team is to support all service areas within the Trust, providing procurement advice, guidance and support on a range of requirements for goods, works and services in line with the Trust Standing Financial Instructions, and current UK and European Public Sector Procurement Law.
This primary objective of this post is to:
To manage all operational aspects of the Procurement function relating to the Procurement team, ensuring that the Trust complies with Trust Financial Standing Instructions and current UK and European Public Sector Procurement law, to a high standard, whilst providing a responsive quality Procurement service.
Main duties of the job
To process orders and obtain quotations to support Trust requirements, in a timely manner.
To work in partnership with service areas to establish user requirements, investigate procurement needs by means of conducting analysis (cost benefit) and to then benchmark and recommend appropriate compliant procurement solutions, highlighting savings opportunities.
To make appropriate use of Trust computer applications (e-Systems) to ensure all tasks/duties are carried out with maximum efficiency and effectiveness, including the use of procurement systems to enable the creation of orders, quotations, catalogues, tenders and contracts.
To support in managing & maintaining Trust systems and processes appropriately and in partnership with other identified team members, and as allocated by the Procurement Manager.
For example: Integra, e-portal tenders, new supplier approval processes and NHS supply chain.
To support service areas in compiling Trust quotations and specifications.
To support, assist and empower service areas to incorporate pre-procurement planning and demonstrate good procurement practice e.g. awareness of lead times and processes, and to then evidence savings and efficiencies post award.
