Job overview

As a Trust, we deliver community and respite services for children and young people (CYP) across Coventry, Warwickshire and parts of Solihull, alongside a regional tier 4 CYPMH service in Birmingham meeting the needs of the whole child across physical health, learning disabilities and mental health pathways.

The post-holder will be a key member of the Directorate Senior Management Team and one of five Operational Leaders ensuring safe and effective delivery of care to children and young people’s Mental Health, Physical Health and Learning Disabilities services.

We are seeking a strategic, values-driven leader with a strong track record of operational leadership. The successful candidate will bring vision, innovation and organisational capability to deliver high-quality, sustainable services at Parkview inpatient Unit and Crisis Care Pathway, aligned with Trust priorities and responsive to population need.

Above all, we seek someone committed to ensuring children and young people receive excellent, evidence-informed care that enables them to thrive and achieve their potential.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide visible and effective operational leadership across Parkview Inpatient Services and Children’s Crisis Pathway
  • Ensure services are delivered safely, to a high standard and within allocated budgets; deliver agreed cost improvements.
  • Lead service transformation and innovation in line with local population needs and national policy.
  • Work collaboratively with partners across the Integrated Care System (ICS) and Commissioner Collaboratives, including local authorities, primary care, acute providers and the voluntary sector.
  • Ensure robust clinical governance, patient safety, safeguarding and quality assurance frameworks are in place.
  • Respond to complaints, concerns and incidents, embedding lessons learned into practice.
  • Support the development and implementation of new service models, pathways and workforce plans.
  • Deputise for the General Manager and other senior colleagues as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant clinical qualification and registration (NMC, HCPC)
  • Educated to a Masters level or demonstrable knowledge at the same level
  • Evidence of other specialist leadership training and commitment to personal development
  • Extensive knowledge of the Health and Social Care system

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of operational leadership at a senior level in the NHS or within an equivalent healthcare setting
  • Experienced in internal and external partner relationships and alliances in progressing organisation operational issue resolution
  • Relevant experience of managing inpatient clinical services, stakeholder management; and partnership working at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Experience of driving impactful service change
  • Significant senior management experience within a range of clinical settings.
  • Relevant experience of implementing operational planning with oversight of clinical effectiveness and outcomes
  • Demonstrate a successful track record of delivering effective and safe healthcare services as a senior manager in a multifaceted healthcare environment including staff management, financial management and change management
  • Evidence of delivering successful operational performance management and clearly demonstrating improvement in patient and staff experience and outcomes
  • Ability to deal with difficult and complex complaints, concerns and incidents
