Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join our specialist team of Cardiac Physiologists here at UHCW.
UHCW is one of the largest acute Trust’s in the country. With 17 Cardiology Consultants, we provide World Class innovation and research in all aspects of Cardiology.
We offer a region-leading Cardiac Imaging Service, offering the full repertoire of echocardiography. Including Complex ACHD, 3D Echocardiography, Pharmacological and Exercise Ischaemic Stress Echo, Strain Echocardiography, TOE, DSE, Transcatheter Structural Intervention and Cardio-Oncology Echocardiography. As well as providing Advanced Cardiac Imaging input to regional hospitals and a range of West Midlands MDTs. In addition to UHCW we also support CDC services.
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, hardworking, and motivated to join our team. You will need to have excellent communication skills with the ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main duties of the job
- Be a competent practitioner in echocardiography procedures, able to autonomously perform routine and complex diagnostic echocardiography procedures.
- Participate in the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring the smooth running of a quality service.
- To independently assess referred patients. Monitor the appropriateness of referrals, obtaining information relevant to patient care, interpreting, and reporting clinical findings and ensuring appropriate discharge or ongoing care.
- To provide teaching and support, to all members of the department and medical staff who are learning technical cardiology.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Reporting to the Echo Service Lead Cardiac Physiologist, be able to autonomously perform routine and complex echocardiography procedures, involvement with full repertoire of echocardiography procedures.
- Work between our main hospital site at UHCW and our CDC sites.
- Participate in the day to day running of the department , ensure smooth running of a quality service.
- Encourage and support junior staff to obtain BSE accreditation.
