Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the HPB team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW NHS Trust) as a specialty doctor in robotic surgery. 

This role is suitable for a senior trainee or post CCT fellow.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job include:

  • Day to day care of complex HPB inpatients.
  • To be part of the acute General Surgical On-call, commensurate with experience.
  • Support in theatre for surgery of complex HPB cases.
  • Independently operate (STU) to support the ‘Hot Gall bladder’ service.
  • Attend MDTs regularly.
  • Support outpatient activity of the unit (independent clinic).
  • Perform audit of overall activity of the unit.
  • Be able to do Consultant on-call (under supervision) if required to cover sickness.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Alongside the main duties of the job, the candidate will take part in the General Surgery on-call rota covering our Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU). The on-call commitments forms a substantial part of the role, with duties including being the responsible registrar for both SAU and emergency theatres.
