Infant Feeding Lead Midwife

Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a part time Infant Feeding Lead Midwife at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW).  The experienced Midwife will be responsible for providing managerial support and clinical expertise within the Women's and Children's services in all aspects of infant feeding.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist expertise and advice in the clinical areas and work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams.

Monitor and maintain standards of care in accordance with trust policies, guidelines, protocols and professional regulations.

Adopt a multi-professional approach to care with mothers, families, health care professionals and other agencies and organisations including UNICEF and ICS.

Advise the clinical areas in assisting women to overcome complex feeding issues and provide specialist input developing plans of care in line with local and national guidance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical / Professional

  1. Provide specialist expertise and advice in the clinical areas, to include Antenatal care, Postnatal care and to work closely with the Infant Feeding Nurses within the Neonatal Unit and Children’s Services.
  2. Monitor and maintain standards of care in accordance with the Trusts policies, Guidelines, Protocols and Professional Regulation
  3. Adopt a multi professional approach to care with mothers, families, health care professionals and other agencies and organisations e.g. UNICEF & CCG
  4. Take responsibility for the ordering, distributing and monitoring of equipment and resources for infant feeding purposes
  5. Ensure the safe working order of infant feeding Teach and advise staff and women how to use equipment safely
  6. Advise the clinical areas to assist women to overcome complex feeding issues and provide specialist input developing plans of care in line with local and national guidance
  7. To participate in the on call unit rota and undertake clinical shifts to fulfil the needs of the
