Applications are invited for 2 Consultant Neonatologists, to start as soon as possible, to join the neonatal team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS trust which is one of the designated neonatal intensive care units within the West Midlands Neonatal operational delivery network. The posts have arisen due retirement and changes in the current service provision. The advertised post are for 2 substantive positions (1 full time 10 PA and 1 part time 8 PA).

 

 

You will join an enthusiastic integrated team providing neonatal care in the designated regional network neonatal intensive care unit in Coventry. The post includes resident evening duties (till 2200 hours weekdays) at tier 3 level. There are no general paediatric duties.

 

The posts are suitable for either an experienced neonatologist or a senior neonatal trainee within 6 months of CCT or with equivalent training and experience. Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register or have a CCT date within 6 months of the interview date or equivalent.

Main duties of the job

The Trust has a large purpose-built perinatal unit, which opened in 2004 with a delivery rate of around 5800 babies per year. There are over 11,000 deliveries per year across Coventry and Warwickshire, for which University Hospital, Coventry, provides the majority of neonatal intensive care. The purpose-built Neonatal Unit has a capacity of 16 critical care cots,14 special care cots and 6 transitional care cots. The unit is one of the designated network neonatal intensive care units for the West Midlands neonatal ODN and provides 3500 Level 1 and 2 and 5500 Level 3 cot days per year. Experienced and well-trained Specialist Neonatal Nurses, 9 ANNPs, Midwives and Nursery Nurses staff the unit. There is a full complement of West Midlands deanery neonatal trainees and the service is accredited for neonatal grid training.
