An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Consultant Radiologist with Interests in Nuclear Medicine &Cardiac Imaging, to join our teams in the Nuclear Medicine and General Radiology departments at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

We are one of the UK’s largest teaching Trusts, a major trauma centre and regional Nuclear Medicine centre, serving a regional population of 1.5 million in a modern PFI facility (which ensures a guaranteed equipment replacement programme).

This post will be primarily based at the University Hospital site and will involve 10 programmed activities (10 PA). You will contribute to the Body Consultant on call rota and to provision of Nuclear Medicine & Cardiac Imaging diagnostic services. You will be an ARSAC license holder or be working towards this.  You will be proficient in cardiac CT and MRI.

We are the principal Teaching hospital for Warwick Medical School and opportunities exist for increased research collaboration with Warwick University. You will be provided with home PACS for remote viewing of diagnostic imaging.

Main duties of the job

As part of planned consultant expansion there are a number of new opportunities available at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust for Consultant Radiologists. We are interested in recruiting Consultants with expertise in Radionuclide & Cardiac imaging. 

UHCW is one of the largest & busiest NHS teaching trusts in the country with two hospitals caring for over 1,000,000 people from across Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond. The Trust combines a number of key roles:

·                District general hospital services for Coventry and Rugby, our local population

·                Tertiary centre for Coventry and Warwickshire, providing complex specialist services for the sector and beyond

·                Major Trauma Centre (Level 1)

·                The Warwickshire, Solihull and Coventry Breast screening service

·                All medical specialities including transplantation and a major Oncology Unit is also located on the University Hospital site (the Arden Cancer Centre).

·                The clinical base for The University of Warwick Medical School.

Every year the Trust provides more than 800,000 episodes of care. The Trust has 2 main hospital sites; University Hospital in Coventry (UHC) and the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby (STX).

The post will be primarily based at the UHC site but all radiologists could be expected to work at STX or in the Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC). UHC & STX are about 12 miles apart.
