Job overview
We are looking for experienced registered nurse to come and join our Surgical Assessment Unit.
The unit accepts patient referral from GP, walk in clinic, WMAS emergency department covering general surgery, urology, vascular. ENT and Max fax.
We welcome applications from those who are enthusiastic and passionate about delivering first class emergency care. Attention to detail and excellent time management qualities are essential.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main duties of the job
- Act in accordance with NMC Code and be accountable for own practice and professional actions at all times.
- Act as a clinical and professional role model for effective clinical leadership enabling and facilitating others to take forward initiatives.
- Demonstrate clinical practice expertise through personal practice and by leading by example
- You to be able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met.
- The leader should be able to provide exceptional treatment and care to patients throughout their pathway.
- Supervise and support junior colleagues, to be able to demonstrate leadership skills in the absence of the Ward Manager. Duties will include Co-ordinating , Erostering, Appraisals, Audits and Quality Assurance checks, Involvement in HR processes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times, including all aspects of child protection.
- Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team including situations where difficulties in comprehension occur.
- A competent practitioner, supervising/providing mentorship to a small number of learners or junior staff.
- Responsible for co-ordination and clinical assessment of a group of patients, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated, involving patients and carers.
- Participate in observations of care, audit and development of service to improve quality of care.
- Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient care management including; patient observations; equipment management and administration of agreed invasive tests/procedures.
- Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data.
- Manage expected clinical events/enquiries, requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort, ensuring referral to a senior member of staff where appropriate e.g in an unexpected event.
- Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
- Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times
