An exciting opportunity has arisen to be pivotal in the service expansion of the Maternity Diabetes team at UHCW. We have a permanent position to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to assist the diabetes specialist midwives in caring for pregnant women with diabetes.

Main duties of the job

The role includes working closely with the Diabetes midwifery team in the Antenatal clinic department. The primary role of the Maternity Care Assistant (MCA) is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team; to provide a safe and holistic approach to women-centred care and to achieve operational excellence

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As part of the maternity workforce team the applicant will be required to act as the first point of contact for dealing with routine enquiries and act as necessary to liaise with others as appropriate. They will be able to communicate with staff, patients and/or external organisations using appropriate methods and undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks following training, ensuring referral to the appropriate trained staff as appropriate. The successful applicant will be computer literate and able to utilise relevant trust IT systems and electronic patient records and be involved with assisting in data collection, and audits.
