Ward Clerk - Band 2 

Brooklands Hospital - Inpatient wards.

37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 

We are looking to recruit to an administrative support role largely based on in-patient wards located at Brooklands Hospital for the Learning Disabilities and Autism Directorate.

Brooklands is a purpose built hospital, consisting of eight specialist separate units, providing inpatient assessment and treatments services to adults and children who are living with a learning disability. It is a Centre of Excellence and hosts a several different services as detailed below. 

  • Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment Service
  • Medium Secure Learning Disability Service (male)
  • Low Secure Learning Disability Service (male)
  • Low Secure Learning Disability Service (female)
  • Young Persons’ Learning Disability Service
  • Adolescent Learning Disability Service

The service accepts patients from the West and East Midlands region and beyond. 

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be required to work within an integrated and skill mixed team, providing an effective and efficient admin support to clinical staff across the site. You will be required to learn different admin functions in order to provide input to the clinical and admin teams.  Due to the nature of the role you must be able to multi-task under pressure and work autonomously and flexibly to meet the needs of the service.   This will be an interesting and varied role and we are, therefore, looking for individuals with a positive approach to change and who are supportive of service improvements. There is an expectation that within time, you will be able to move across wards in line with service needs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 The post-holder will need to share our values of compassion, respect and empathy towards service users, carers, and colleagues whilst maintaining the highest standards of courtesy, confidentiality and tact. In addition, you will need to have appropriate computer skills to be able to undertake data inputting, collation of information, use of e-mails, etc.  Full training will be provided for systems use, eg Carenotes (patient system), tracking, etc.

Please note that the successful candidate will require a DBS check.

Essential criteria
  • Good General Education (eg. GCSE English and Maths A-C)

  • QCF Customer Service Level 2
  • QCF Business Administration Level 2

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Good communication / customer care skills both written and verbal demonstrating sympathy and compassion
  • Standard keyboard / IT skills
  • Understand confidentiality and apply the principles in every day working practice
  • Ability to pay attention to detail where there are predictable interruptions to the work pattern

EXPERIENCE
