Use of AI when writing Job Applications

While AI tools can be helpful in generating ideas and drafting initial versions, they should never be the sole source for writing your job application.  AI cannot truly understand the specific job you’re applying for or what makes you a good fit.  Therefore, it’s crucial to personalise any AI generated content to accurately reflect your skills, experiences and aspirations.  Relying solely on AI to write your application may result in generic, impersonal and potentially inaccurate content.  Always review and refine any AI-generated text to ensure if effectively communicates your experience, skills, accomplishments, and aspirations and demonstrates your suitability for the position.

Job overview

This is a new post that has come about as a result of service development. You will join a well-established Core 24 team covering a large teaching hospital in Coventry and two smaller district general hospitals in Warwick and Nuneaton. This post will cover George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton with minimal cross cover at the other sites. We see age 17+ and have additional dementia psychiatrist support onsite.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with a dedicated mental health liaison team based at George Eliot Hospital (GEH). The service accepts referrals of patients of all ages over 17. Although the Consultant will be based in Coventry, there will be an expectation that the consultant will work flexibly across acute sites.

Objectives of the service are to provide effective liaison between service providers in the Mental Health Trust and the Acute Hospital Trusts.  The team will provide effective liaison between the Mental Health services and emergency departments, acute inpatient wards and elderly care wards and provide medical leadership and clinical supervision for the Liaison Team.

Working for our organisation

At Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT), we provide all-age mental health services for a population of around one million in Coventry and Warwickshire. We also provide learning disability and autism, and community paediatric services.

CWPT is a teaching Trust and has been involved in the development of Warwick University Medical School since it began. We provide placements for medical students, and medics from CWPT contribute to the academic programme.

We are proud of our involvement in postgraduate medical education. We have trainees on rotation at all levels, including speciality trainees from the West Midlands School of Psychiatry, trainees from the West Midlands GP training scheme and Foundation trainees.

We are forward-thinking and always seeking to improve, with a Quality Improvement approach to service development.

There are lots of benefits to joining CWPT. Here is a just a snapshot:

  • NHS pension scheme
  • Salary sacrifice scheme with discounted gym memberships, cycle to work scheme, and savings on home and electronics
  • Access to a lease car and vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
  • Coaching and mentoring, shadowing, and reciprocal mentoring
  • Excellent wellbeing support, including in-house counselling service, wellbeing guides, and 24-hour confidential helpline
  • Staff networks and support groups
  • Teaching opportunities
  • Bespoke research and innovation department closely linked to local universities, and leading national studies on trauma, psychosis and autism
    • Four lovely substantive consultants who all get on with each other and with our wider team. Regular liaison medics social events.
    • The opportunity to develop a special interest within liaison – we have someone into each of brain injury / T&O links, autism, NEAD, DKA / T1DE, dementia pathways and palliative care.
    • Consistent allocation of two higher trainees to our team each rotation and likely another for this post.
    • No out of area bed use and over the last 6 months our bed waits have vanished.
    • A large and well-established band 6 and 7 nursing team who are great at the risk assessment work and only involve Consultant when needed.
    • An outpatient follow-up MDT with OT and psychology for functional disorders and “proper”(!) liaison work
    • Various service development / QI in our team including massive improvement in our KPIs this year, ED triage and a proposal to expand our offer to support HIUs.
