Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks
Many of the roles we advertise have a requirement for a DBS check to be carried out. If you are successful for a role and it requires a DBS check the Trust will carry out the initial check and subscription to the DBS Update Service, however successful candidates will be expected to cover the associated costs . Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.

Enhanced Care Team – Clinical Support Worker
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our brand-new Enhanced Care Team at Warwick Hospital.
We are seeking caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic Clinical Support Workers who are passionate about making a difference for patients with complex needs. You will need excellent communication skills, patience, and empathy to support individuals who may have mental health conditions, eating disorders, dementia, learning disabilities, or autism.
As part of this role, you will:
- Receive full support and training to develop new skills.
- Play an active role in shaping and improving the service as the team establishes and grows.
- Work closely with patients and families, building therapeutic relationships to deliver safe, person-centred care that achieves the best possible outcomes.
- Contribute to a rota providing 24/7 cover, including nights and weekends.
This is a rewarding and evolving role where you will influence the quality of enhanced care across the acute hospital setting, supported by a collaborative and committed team to ensure we meet the advancing demand of patients with additional needs.

Main duties of the job
As an Enhanced Care Team Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patients who may be at risk of harm to themselves or others. Working alongside the Enhanced Care Team (ECT) and guided by the ECT Lead, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care, helping patients manage the behavioural and psychological challenges that can arise during a hospital stay.
You will lead by example: showing kindness, respecting choice, and embracing person-centred values to help improve outcomes and keep our patients safe from harm.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Full attendance and completion of identified courses and competences is considered essential and a prerequisite for this post.
General Duties
Uphold the Trust values and standards at all times
Working collaboratively with the patient, their careers and the ward/department teams to gather information relating to the patient’s pre-hospital state – recording lifestyle choices, occupation, routine, likes and dislikes, mood, behaviour.
Working alongside ward/department teams to ensure a shift plan is instigated to guarantee a patient requiring arm’s length observation is at no time left unsupervised
Demonstrates a positive and enthusiastic approach to their work in order to maintain high morale and motivation within the team. Promoting a professional and positive working environment
Collaborating with members of the MDT to ensure appropriate adaptions or actions are instigated at the patient’s bedside/ bay to remove hazards that potentially could lead to a deliberate act of self-harm or accidental injury to the patient or others.
Working with the patient/their families and carers to the support the patient to orientate and familiarise themselves to bedside /ward environment i.e., access to own clothing, make-up and toiletries, favourite belongings/comforters, clocks, photos, music, reading material and aids.
Deploying multi-sensory stimulation techniques (such as music, massage, memory collecting) to encourage the patient to participate in personal care, improving cognitive function and reducing the risk of boredom and behavioural and psychological distress.
Ensuring that de-escalation techniques are planned and instigated, using the least restrictive methods which are proportionate to risk managing episodes of distress, volatile behaviour or with a focus towards prevention. Ensure all episodes of behavioural or psychological disturbance are reported to the nurse in charge, documented in the patient notes and the escalation procedures expedited.
Providing advise /handover to ECT and ward team with regards to known triggers for escalating behaviours and methods to prevent such behaviours including meaningful activity and distraction techniques.
Playing a key role in ensuring patients and their families are offered regular updates on the progress of care and are encouraged to participate in establishing requirements and care needs for and following discharge.
Ensuring that the daily/rounding observation charts are complete and that the need for enhanced care is evaluated daily with the ward team and ECT Lead.
Providing shift handover to ward staff and members of the ECT. Ensuring any concerns are reported in a timely and responsive manner.
To report any accidents or incidents as described by the Trust’s policy and procedures ensuring an open and transparent culture
To take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and of others.
To adhere to the Trust’s presentation policy, maintaining a smart appearance at all times.
All employees will have an organisational and individual responsibility towards safeguarding vulnerable adults, young people and children. Where employees are working with children, young people and families they have a responsibility to cooperate in national and local safeguarding policy around early intervention activities appropriate to improving health outcomes.
To assist other wards, departments and teams within the Trust as and when required by service needs
Clinical Duties:
Undertake and record accurately patient observations, reporting/escalating any abnormalities immediately to a RN. This may include some of the following:
- Temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiratory rate, blood glucose
- Oxygen saturation levels
- Consciousness levels, AVPU
- Hourly urine output
- Monitor bowel habits according to Bristol stool chart
- Patient at Risk/Early warning scores/escalation
- Weight/height

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Obtained an educational level of GCSE level A – C English and Maths or equivalent
- NVQ /Diploma level 3 or equivalent higher apprenticeship in healthcare
- Completion of competency/short courses to undertake patient and clinical care duties
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience in at least one of the following settings: Acute Hospital, Mental Health Unit, Community Healthcare
- Experience of working in the specialities such as: Dementia Care, Care of Elderly, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services, CAMHS , LD/Autism, Emergency Medicine, Neurology
- Experience of working with patients who present with challenging or high-risk behaviours
