Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks
Many of the roles we advertise have a requirement for a DBS check to be carried out. If you are successful for a role and it requires a DBS check the Trust will carry out the initial check and subscription to the DBS Update Service, however successful candidates will be expected to cover the associated costs . Details of this will be sent to successful candidates in their offer letter.
Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.
The Trust also welcome staff to work flexibly and we would welcome the conversation at interview regarding flexible working.

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon to join its established Orthopaedic team. The successful candidate will deliver a comprehensive, high-quality service in primary lower limb arthroplasty and revision knee arthroplasty
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-volume elective service and play a key role in the delivery and development of complex knee and lower limb surgery within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.
The Orthopaedic Department provides a comprehensive trauma and elective service and has a strong reputation for teamwork, innovation and education. The lower limb service is supported by:

The role includes participating in an 1 in 8 on-call trauma rota, regular elective operating lists, orthopaedic & fracture clinics as well as providing undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

Main duties of the job

Provide a high-quality Consultant-led service in primary lower limb arthroplasty and revision knee surgery.

Undertake elective operating lists, outpatient clinics, ward rounds and follow-up care in line with the agreed job plan.

Provide senior clinical decision-making for complex and high-risk cases.
-
Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to support coordinated patient care.

Participate in the Orthopaedic on-call rota as required. (1 in 8)

Contribute to clinical governance, audit, service development and elective recovery initiatives.

Support the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and the wider MDT.
