Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks
Many of the roles we advertise have a requirement for a DBS check to be carried out. If you are successful for a role and it requires a DBS check the Trust will carry out the initial check and subscription to the DBS Update Service, however successful candidates will be expected to cover the associated costs . Details of this will be sent to successful candidates in their offer letter.
Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.
The Trust also welcome staff to work flexibly and we would welcome the conversation at interview regarding flexible working.

FULL TIME – NO BANDING
South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty within its established and high-performing Arthroplasty Unit.
This post is offered in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Medical Ltd and is suitable for an experienced orthopaedic surgeon who can undertake primary lower limb arthroplasty independently, and who wishes to further develop skills in advanced techniques and revision surgery within a supportive, consultant-led service.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold FRCS (Orth) or equivalent
- Have full GMC registration at the time of interview
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience at Specialist Registrar level (or equivalent) in Trauma & Orthopaedics
- Post CCT or equivalent (desirable)
- Demonstrate competence in independent primary hip and knee arthroplasty
The Arthroplasty Unit at South Warwickshire is recognised as one of the most efficient services nationally, with a strong multidisciplinary approach to elective care.
The post will commence from August 2026, for a period of one year.

Main duties of the job

To provide senior clinical care within the hip and knee arthroplasty service, supporting safe and efficient elective delivery.
-
To undertake independent primary hip and knee arthroplasty and participate in advanced and revision surgery within agreed competencies.
-
To manage elective outpatient clinics and provide peri-operative inpatient care, including post-operative management and early recognition of complications.

To work closely with consultant colleagues and actively participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to support coordinated patient care and effective discharge planning.

To contribute to theatre efficiency, patient flow, and elective productivity targets.

To support the supervision of junior doctors and contribute to audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activity.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post is available from August 2026 for a fixed term period of one year.
The post will be ideally suited for those who wish to pursue a career in joint replacement surgery. The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating the Depuy trials/research within the Department.
The post holder will also supply the data for research and development. They will participate in both Outpatients and Elective surgery, closely supervised by senior Orthopaedic Consultants.
