Consultant Psychiatrist, Full time, Permanent, Full Time Permanent Core CAMHS and Crisis Role Wolverhampton

You are invited to join a friendly and motivated Medical team within the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Your post will be based at Gem Centre Wolverhampton

The duties of the post holder will include providing eating disorder psychiatric service to Children and Adolescents with eating disorder across Wolverhampton This will include looking after outpatients and community patients covering a population around 500,000.  

The post holder will be   expected to work closely with the Community MDT within Wolverhampton The Post holder will be expected to have an active role in development of the  service.  

The Consultant in CAMHS crisis and home treatment team will be expected to provide medical expertise and support the existing staff in the assessment, diagnosis and management of children and adolescents presenting with mental health problems in the designated local hospitals and to the crisis home treatment team.

    Number of programmed activities Core CAMHS: 5 sessions. Crisis CAMHS : 5 sessions  

Main duties of the job

The Eating disorder service/crisis  Consultant role is to provide medical expertise and support to existing staff in  assessment, diagnosis, management of Children and Adolescents within the community team and Crisis. The consultant will provide support to clinical colleagues in deciding appropriate interventions for patients referred to the service. Including seeing patients referred, working with the care pathways, specialist clinics, to provide input to pathways, interfacing with them.   To involve providing direct interventions, liaising with multiple agencies, involve collaborative work with agencies providing a seamless pathway for patients. The  consultant would be expected to develop a good working relationship with core CAMHS team, CRHT Team and Paediatric consultants in acute hospital, regional specialist ED services and educational and social care services and would be expected to work closely with inpatient Teams/Crisis Home Treatment  service. The consultant would need to work closely with dietician and interface with GP, acute ward to manage the physical health of the patient to ensure that patient is kept safe, liaison with wards and facilitating discharge through collaborative working with primary care, community services, Social Care, private providers and the voluntary sector to provide a seamless pathway for children and adolescents.
