Job overview

The Arun Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams are looking for a Team Leader to help develop the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team in Bognor Regis.  

It is a time of transformation and change in community mental health services, with investment into new roles and opportunities to work in innovative ways. You will be part of a supportive, friendly and enthusiastic team with a passion for what we do.

Working closely with the Service Manager,  other Team Leaders and Professional Leads, you will have a clear role in offering high quality and visible leadership, setting and maintaining operational standards, improving outcomes, and prioritising experience for service users, families, and carers. You will also be responsible for the provision of line management to staff ensuring that our contractual requirements are achieved and delivered, and that a learning and supportive culture is always promoted.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit  an  innovative and enthusiastic Team leader for  Bognor  NMHT.  We welcome applications from either  mental health nurses, occupational therapists or social workers to lead the team in Bognor NMHT.

You should be enthusiastic, talented and have a good clinical experience in secondary mental health services. You will be expected to be able to  function well independently as well as within the multi-disciplinary team, assisting in the management of clients with  enduring mental health needs in a community setting.

You must have a warm and friendly disposition with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be confident, motivated and flexible and be able to show initiative in an environment which is often busy, rewarding and dynamic.

You will have a crucial role in building trusting relationships with local partners and be instrumental in the further development of our service as this continues to grow. 

You will be joining a highly committed and dynamic  MDT, you will be fully supported and empowered to make a difference and to creatively develop new ways of working. An  interest in quality improvement along with a recovery focused model of care is important to this role.

High personal resilience and a can-do attitude are essential and we would expect you to lead by example and be able to demonstrate the SPFT values and behaviours.

The post holder will receive regular supervision, training  and development opportunities, and will be supported by a professional and friendly team who are committed to providing high quality care. You wont be alone in this role, you  will work alongside another team leader in Bognor who will share the responsibility of managing the team with you, and some cross cover may be needed with the Team Leader in the Littlehampton NMHT hub.

As team leader you will supporting and supervising the team, managing any day to day issues, ensuring the team works within the budget and successfully achieves required quality targets.

You will be required to demonstrate that you have developed excellent clinical skills with proven experience and be able to work effectively with other professionals to manage complex and demanding situations.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist qualification.
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Up to date Registration (NMC/HCPC/SWE)
  • Post Basic Courses / relevant Study Days

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice
  • Experience of providing professional support/supervision and motivation of staff
  • Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance
  • Experience of managing staff
