Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Integrated Breast Services and Imaging Services at the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for a Consultant Radiologist with interest in Breast and Paediatrics. The duties of this role will be based at the Park Centre for Breast Care and Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.

The role will be a full time 10PA post with the opportunity to cover all aspects of the breast screening, breast imaging services and paediatrics imaging. This includes breast screening reporting, screening assessment clinics, one stop 2WW rule clinics, ultrasound and interventional lists and depending on experience MRI and cross-sectional reporting. 

The successful candidate will join a busy Integrated Breast Service, providing breast screening to a population of over 120,000 women, receiving over 8,000 GP referrals and treating around 1000 new breast cancers.

Digital equipment including tomosynthesis and VAB/E are available at Brighton.

Main duties of the job

The clinical duties of the post will include the following:

  • Support breast screening reporting, screening assessment clinics and arbitration sessions
  • Support one stop symptomatic clinics
  • Support ultrasound and interventional procedures, including VAB/E and localisation procedures
  • Report breast MRIs / cross sectional imaging
  • Support interval cancer and previously assessed cancer reviews
  • Support pediatrics imaging

No on-call commitments.

Experience / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Basic medical degree
  • • FRCR or its recognised equivalent
  • • Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. • If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Clinical Radiology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. • If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
Desirable criteria
  • • Membership of other relevant subspecialty organisations
  • • MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
  • • Higher Degree

Clinical Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Relevant post registration experience
  • • Breast radiology including experience in breast screening
  • • Wide experience in clinical radiology and cross sectional imaging
