We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking Consultant Radiologist specialising in uro-gynae imaging to join our expanding team based at Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The role requires a thorough grounding in clinical radiology including ultrasound and cross sectional skills. In addition the post holder will be required to perform sub specialist reporting and participate in MDMs.

An interest in paediatric imaging would be desirable as we enhance our children’s and young people’s imaging pathways.

Main duties of the job

The clinical duties of the post include the following:

• General elective and acute (hot) reporting
• General ultrasound list
• Sub-speciality reporting
• Supervision of radiology trainees
• Participation in MDMs
• Participation in Body Imaging on-call service

Teaching and training are integral with rotating radiology trainees and subspecialty training. Participation in teaching for the radiology Master’s program (MSc) conducted at the medical school is also encouraged.

Work Pattern & Flexibility

  • 10 PA baseline job plans (8.5 DCC / 1.5 SPA) with negotiation for additional SPAs considered
  • Participation in on‑call rota for general Radiology is required

Experience/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Basic medical degree
  • • Postgraduate qualification or appropriate specialist qualification
  • • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • • CCT in Radiology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
  • • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
Desirable criteria
  • • Higher Degree
  • • Distinctions, Scholarships, prizes, other degrees eg BSc, MSc, MS

Clinical Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Broad experience of general acute diagnostic imaging (including trauma CT) and general outpatient imaging
  • • Good cross-sectional skills in body and emergency imaging
  • • sub specialist experience in uro / gynae reporting
Desirable criteria
  • • Audited outcomes of practice
  • Experience paediatric imaging

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • • Breadth of experience in and outside specialty

Organisation and Planning

Essential criteria
  • • Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams.
