Job overview

This new post, funded by the South East Endoscopy Academy, offers an exciting opportunity to a senior gastroenterology or surgical trainee to contribute to the development of the endoscopy academy whilst gaining additional skills and experience in advanced endoscopy and endoscopy training.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to assist with the delivery of endoscopy academy activity including, Endoscopy simulation, Endoscopic non-technical skills, Basic skills in Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy courses, Pig-model polypectomy courses and endoscopy training during endoscopy immersion weeks. The postholder will have the opportunity to train in an advanced specialist area depending on interest and level of experience. Opportunities include: Complex polyp resection including: EMR, ESD, Speedboat, FTRD, EUS – OG staging, HPB including therapeutics, ERCP including Spyglass Cholangioscopy, Video Capsule Endoscopy and Wireless pH and manometry.

·       Delivery of basic endoscopy skills and courses

·       Facilitation and delivery of training during endoscopy immersion weeks

·       Some service list commitments (~1 per week)

Development of Academy course information booklets, course material

Experience/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Basic Medical Degree
  • Full MRCP
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Higher Degree
  • JAG Train Colonscopy Trainers Certificate
