Job overview

The Haven is a 24/7 crisis assessment unit located on the Langley Green hospital site in Crawley, we have 3 chairs in the unit that provide an place for people to come for an extended assessment of their mental health needs.

Main duties of the job

As a Bank Urgent Care Nurse in The Haven, your priority will be to ensure the safety of service users in crisis. You will complete the assessment of the individual’s needs and risks, accurately recording and communicating this information.

We work closely with our inpatient and community mental health teams across the Trust and have developed excellent working relationships with the emergency services who refer people to us and we are continuing to develop bespoke crisis plans.

The Haven is at the forefront of our ambition to provide patient-centred care, providing people with a calm, safe and nurturing space for them to receive treatment and recover from mental health crisis.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship, ENB 998 or level 3 module in teaching and assessing in clinical practice

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and DOL’s
  • Knowledge of the MHA (1983/2007)

Analytical & Judgement skill

Essential criteria
  • Excellent clinical skills
