Clinical Nurse Specialist Welfare Secure CAMHS

NHS AfC: Band 7

We’re a large NHS Mental Health Trust in South East England. We’re looking for people to help us provide high quality services for the patients, carers and local communities we serve.

We want patients and staff to recommend our organisation as a place where they would be happy for their friends and family to be treated. You can help us do this by bringing your skills, experience and commitment to Sussex Partnership.

We are seeking to recruit a 1.0 wte Band 7 CAMHS Nurse to join a small multidisciplinary health team at Lansdowne Welfare Secure Unit in Hailsham, East Sussex. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, motivated and creative Nurse to provide expert Clinical and Leadership skills into a dynamic, forward thinking work environment.

Lansdowne welfare secure unit is 7 bedded provision for females and males which is due to extend to 12 beds in 2020. The post is part of an exciting new NHS England commissioned project called SECURE STAIRS which is being delivered in partnership with DfE, YJB, HMPPS and MoJ. It aims to support trauma-informed care and formulation-driven, evidence-based, whole-systems approaches to creating change for young people within the Children and Young People’s Secure Estate (CYPSE). The young people have complex needs and are described as ‘high need/high vulnerability/high risk’.

The post holder’s main responsibilities will be to complete the mental health component of the CHAT Assessment Tool with all new admissions, to contribute to the creation and review of a multidisciplinary formulation about the young person’s presenting difficulties and needs, to contribute to the provision of short term treatment/interventions with  a small cohort of young people, and to support the day-to-day care staff in reflective practice and the maintenance of a trauma-informed therapeutic milieu. You will need to be adaptable, organised, forward thinking and a good team player to be effective in this role, which includes both lone and team working. Experience of working in CAMHS is desirable although not essential.

Clinical supervision will be provided from a Psychologist in the unit, as well as from the Lead Nurse in the local Tier 3 Specialist CAMHS, who will also be responsible for Professional Supervision.

In addition to support their work, the post holder will be funded to attend training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Level 1.

Our offer is for a career not just a job, in a team and a trust focussed on to delivering the best care possible to the community whilst being committed to the wellbeing of its staff. Our last CQC rating placed us good in all areas and outstanding for caring.
