Senior Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
NHS AfC: Band 8a
Come and join us
We're looking for people who share our values (compassion, accountability and optimism) to help us provide high quality care to the patients, carers, families and local communities we serve. We specialise in providing NHS mental health and learning disability services.
So what can we offer you in return?
We're an organisation which puts people first. We'll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. We'll help you learn, acquire new skills and gain further experience to support your career development. And we'll provide the opportunity for you to bring your fresh ideas to work about how we can do things differently and continue improving.
You will also be joining a health and care system committed to working together to do the best we can for the communities we serve. Above all, at Sussex Partnership you'll have the chance to make a difference to the lives of the patients, carers and families across our communities.
As a Trust we are committed in making a difference. Your development is important to us, so don't forget to ask us during interview what opportunities we can offer. We can offer fully funded lifelong learning opportunities such as an apprenticeship from GCSE to Masters level.
If you like the sound of that, then come and join our team.
Job overview
Passionate about CBT and want to join a welcoming and dynamic team? Come and join us!
We're looking for an experienced cognitive behavioural psychotherapist with BABCP accreditation and a recognised CYP-MH qualification in supervision.
You should be interested in working in systemic and innovative ways to best improve the outcomes of children and young people. Within CAMHS you will work alongside highly specialist nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists with opportunities for innovative joint practise. You will be well-supported with training, CPD, and opportunities for career development.
We operate a care pathways model and you would hold some clinical lead responsibilities within these. With a small caseload, you would also hold some supervision responsibilities of CBT therapists and CWPs. You would also play a lead role in our group interventions and workshops, and offer training and consultation
Main duties of the job
As a member of the CAMHS team, you would participate in the core multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention work of the team, and engage in multi-agency liaison work as necessary. You would also be required to participate in the supervision, training and the overall governance requirements of SPFT CAMHS.
You'd part of a very busy but lively and welcoming CAMHS team, which offers a wide range of individual, group and systemic interventions, and is involved in a number of innovative evaluation and research projects and service developments. As such, you would be encouraged to develop your skills, ideas and interests to further your expertise and that of the team, in accordance with service needs.
You will have the opportunity to provide support and supervision to a growing CBT workforce, and contribute to wider discussions across the wider Sussex CAMHS service regarding innovative ways of developing our CBT offer. It would be desirable for candidates to have additional supervision training and experience as part of this role.

- With easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow and excellent railway links across the UK there is plenty of opportunity for adventure
We’d love you to join our organisation that is rated ‘good’ overall and ‘outstanding’ for caring by the Care Quality Commission. Our staff agree, with 82% of people in our recent staff survey telling us that they recognise that care for patients is our top priority.
Other key staff survey results include:
- 70% highlighting flexible working opportunities as a key point for satisfaction at work
- 79% reporting feeling able to make suggestions to improve the work within their team

Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
