Employer heading
Senior Psychologist / Psychological Therapist
NHS AfC: Band 8a
Come and join us
We’re looking for people who share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism to help us provide high quality care for the patients, carers, families and communities we serve. We specialise in NHS mental health and learning disability services and we’re proud to make a difference every day.
At SPFT we put people first. We’ll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. You’ll have opportunities to learn, grow and gain new experiences to support your career, with access to lifelong learning and professional development.
We actively promote flexible working and understand how important work life balance is, especially in healthcare. Whether it’s part time hours, hybrid working or flexible start and finish times, we’ll explore what works for you and the role.
We recognise that AI is becoming part of daily life and you may choose to use it to help prepare your application. We welcome innovation but ask that anything you submit reflects your own abilities, experience and voice. AI can support how you describe your skills and experience, but it should never replace your own words as we want to get to know you.
We’re shaping a workplace where ideas are encouraged, technology supports you and everyone has a voice in how we improve. If that sounds like the kind of organisation you want to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.
Job overview
Applications are invited from HCPC-registered Applied Psychologists / accredited Psychological Therapists to join the Psychological Professions provision working across Brighton and Hove Urgent Care Pathway. The role currently includes clinical input into The Haven (crisis lounge), Mill View Hospital, and the Mental Health Liaison Team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, as well as providing some support into the Trust-wide Rapid Response Service.
About the team
We strive to provide excellent care to our service users, their families and our staff which is demonstrated by the service’s commitment to improving service user experience, supporting staff and professional development. You will be based within the Urgent Care Services and will join the growing Psychological Professions team based at Mill View Hospital. You will be supported through clinical and professional supervision with the Principal Psychologist for Acute and Urgent Care, and we offer a commitment to support your continued professional development.
Main duties of the job
This exciting post is a great opportunity for an innovative and creative psychologist to develop the role alongside psychology and MDT colleagues. Working closely with the Urgent Care Manager, you will be involved in supporting teams who work with people in crisis: contributing to assessments, developing formulations and care plans for people who regularly use Urgent Care Services, and where appropriate offering brief interventions (individual / group). You will work across the care pathway, liaising with professionals and services to help ensure joined-up thinking and compassionate care. You will also work to support other professionals though formal and informal interventions: reflective practice, debriefs and training in psychologically-informed interventions.
Working for our organisation
We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex.
Working in Sussex:
- Travel easily between coast and countryside, with a blend of picturesque villages and seaside towns - there are always new experiences to be enjoyed
- Embrace the city life with great access to visit Brighton and London
- With easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow and excellent railway links across the UK there is plenty of opportunity for adventure
We’d love you to join our organisation that is rated ‘good’ overall and ‘outstanding’ for caring by the Care Quality Commission.
