Are you passionate about supporting patient care? Do you want to ensure our ambulances are equipped with the critical medicines they need? Then come and join us in our newly refurbished Medicines Distribution Centre based in Paddock Wood and help us deliver excellent pre-hospital care.

We are looking to recruit two Senior Pharmacy Support Workers to expand our team within our busy and friendly Medicines Distribution Centre (MDC). The MDC is currently undergoing a refurbishment that is due for completion in October 2024.

The successful candidate for this role will be required to oversee the work of the Pharmacy Support Workers in the Medicines Packing Unit whilst undertaking the ordering and receipting of the medicines as they arrive and leave the unit. Other duties involve packing pouches and undertaking quality assurance.

The Medicines distribution Centre operates across two shifts and as a Senior Pharmacy Support Worker you will work a fixed shift pattern covering either early or late shifts 5 days per week. These will be discussed as part of the recruitment process.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will:

  • Day to day support and guidance for the daily activities of the Medicines Support Workers and proactively contribute to the achievement of deliverables through individual and team effort. This includes setting an effective weekly rota, workflow and assignment of tasks for the packing of pouches and control risks.
  • Support team members to deliver on their functionally relevant objectives through offering advice, guidance and support as appropriate.
  • Ensure that resources are used effectively and in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Actively promote the flow of work through the department and communicate with Distribution hubs and Stations when obstacles arise.
  • Liaise with Senior Professionals and related functions to ensure that work is completed to schedule, not overlooked or duplicated.
  • Contribute to the stock control within the department, including participating in stock-checks, tracing and resolving stock discrepancies, being proactive in ensuring that urgently required drugs are sourced

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Pharmacy team at the Medicines Distribution Centre provides essential support to front line ambulance operations. The  Pharmacy Support Workers play a key role in providing medicines pouches for use by front line staff in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures.

Education

Essential criteria
  • Worked with Microsoft or other IT software
  • GCSE or equivalent grade C or above in English and Maths
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
