Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Clinical nurse to join the Coastal CAMHS team across the Chichester and Worthing area.

The role will entail working with young people who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health conditions, offering assessment and treatment, including 1-1 work and some group interventions. You will lead on complex cases, support and take a leadership role with the junior nurses and mental health practitioners, as well as supporting the wider team with your expertise and clinical knowledge.

Main duties of the job

To work autonomously and as part of a team in an environment that can be changeable, due to service capacity and demand and lead by example.

You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, offering a high standard of patient care with an ability to demonstrate sound risk assessment skills, excellent communication skills and at times leadership to other team members.

You should be motivated, dynamic and forward thinking with a commitment to maintaining and improving service user-focused services to the highest quality.

We focus on Evidence based practice, robust care-planning and thorough risk assessments and work closely and collaboratively with our acute care colleagues and other key agencies, such as Education and Social Care to ensure young people are supported to the highest standard.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Coastal CAMHS are looking to recruit a Band 7 Senior Clinical Nurse, who is highly motivated with a passion for working creatively and collaboratively with children, young people and their families, with moderate to severe complex mental health problems, within the Worthing and Chichester areas in West Sussex.

The post entails working in a lively, busy multidisciplinary CAMHS Team across two sites delivering high quality interventions to children, young people and their families, including assessments, individual and group work.  You will get the opportunity to work with colleagues of all disciplines.

This post requires knowledge and experience of working with young people who are experiencing moderate to severe complex mental health difficulties.

You will have good quality line management and nursing supervision and the role will require supervision of junior nurses and supporting student nursing placements. You will work closely with the team leader, service manager and lead nurse for CAMHS.

You can choose either Chichester or Worthing as your base, some travel across sites will be needed.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role.
  • Degree/diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training, experience, courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group
  • Evidence of post registration training in relevant service area
  • Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
